Adriatica Ionica Race: Polanc 8th on queen stage

The most challenging stage of the Adriatic Ionica Race, which started from Palmanova and finished at Lake Misurina, saw Jan Polanc cross the finish line in 8th position, at 1’17 “from the winner Mark Padun (Bahrain-Merida).

Together with 9 other riders, Polanc broke clear from the main group 60 km from the finish line, catching and passing the only survivor of the first break of the day, Mattia Bais (Cycling Team Friuli), before the ascent of Sella Ciampigotto.

The battle for victory between the leaders began along the ascent to the finish line: Polanc became detached 6km from the line, finishing the stage in 8th position.

Polanc: “My condition is not yet at its best, but it is normal after a session of training at altitude.
However, the stage suited my characteristics and I tried to give my best.
I was able to be present at the front of action, then I had to settle my pace at a sustainable rate, and still managed a place in the top ten riders.
I’m sure my form will improve as the race goes on”.
