Double Top 10 in Italian National Championships

Diego Ulissi and Davide Formolo have put in a solid performance to claim 6th and 10th respectively in the Italian Road Race Championships held near Venice.

The UAE pair worked tirelessly in the closing kilometres to break clear of the group, but nothing was being let go. The reduced group of 15 riders battled out in the sprint with Giacomo Nizzolo (NTT) coming out on top.

Formolo will now turn his attention to the Tour de France next weekend while Ulissi will focus on his build-up towards the Giro d’Italia.

Ulissi: “The race was very fast and the team worked very well, but the course was not selective enough for me and a lot of fast riders and sprinters were able to survive until the end. The legs were good and myself and Davide tried until the very end to win, but it wasn’t enough.”
