UAE Team Emirates heads to the Hammer Series Hong Kong

Continental champion Mirza is among the six riders participating in the Asian race

Hong Kong will host the last of three stops of the Hammer Series 2018, an innovative and spectacular formula that helps the fans really appreciate the sport.

After the races in Stavanger, Norway, in May and in Limburg, The Netherlands, in June, UAE Team Emirates will be in the Asian race October 14. They will race the Hammer Sprint, 10 laps over a 4,3 km circuit with a sprint on each lap, and the final Hammer Chase, a team time trial which will award victory to the first team over the line.

Philippe Mauduit (France) and Bruno Vicino (Italy) will direct the six-man team (in each event, they can select five):
– Matteo Bono (Italy)
– Yousif Mirza (UAE)
– Jan Polanc (Slovenia)
– Aleksandr Riabushenko (Belarus)
– Ben Swift (Great Britain)
– Oliviero Troia (Italy)

Vicino, after guiding the team in the last two events, said, “The Hammer Series is an innovative way to show off our sport, it’s beautiful that we can race in an original way in special locations that represents new frontiers in cycling.
I have already directed the team in the Hong Kong Criterium last year, so I’m curious how the city will appreciate this Hammer Series. We are going to line up with riders of high level like Polanc and Swift, and young talents Riabushenko and Troia, and the experience of Bono. Also important, we are taking the Asian champion, Yousif Mirza, to this stop of the Hammer Series“.
