Bjerg goes fast to clock top-5 in Poland time-trial

Ulissi tightens grip on 4th place on GC

Mikkel Bjerg put in a fine time-trial performance to finish 4th on stage 6 of the Tour de Pologne.

The Danish former U23 triple World time trial champion held the fastest time for much of the day when he clocked 22:28 over the 19.1km course.

Small gaps separated the top contenders with Bjerg just 18’’ behind stage winner Remi Cavagna (Deceuninck-Quickstep). The Dane clocked an average speed of 51kmph over the course starting and finishing in the city of Katowice.

Bjerg: “I did my best out there today. I was an early starter so I had the best time for quite a while so it was a bit nerve-wracking watching all the other guys come in. This is the first big test after the Tour and I’m happy with the shape and ready to build up for the next races.”
Matters still remain tight in the GC battle with Ulissi sitting 4th, with just one flat stage to finish the race from Zabrze to Krakow (145.1km)
