Kristoff climbs podium in Deutschland Tour final stage

Third place in Erfurt for the Norwegian, with Ulissi 5th in the final ranking

Alexander Kristoff has continued his green patch of form at the Deutschland Tour.
Winner of the 2nd stage of the German race, the UAE Team Emirates fast-man had to settle for third in the 159.5 km stage from Eisenach-Erfurt, won by Sonny Colbrelli (Bahrain-Merida) ahead of Yves Lampaert (Deceuninck-Quick Step).

The Norwegian showed his grit by hanging in over the three climbs of the course and staying with the best in the demanding final circuit.
On the final straight, the group had reduced to about forty riders with UAE Team Emirates represented by Diego Ulissi, Simone Consonni and Kristoff, who was launched by teammates in the final 150 meters.
However, the speed of Colbrelli proved too much for the Norwegian (photo Bettini, wearing the green jersey as leader the points classification: in the final points standing, he was 2nd).

Kristoff:”It was a hard day for me with the climbs in the middle but we managed to get over it without a problem. Then the final circuit was tough too. I got great help from Ulissi and from Consonni in the last 2km, but unfortunately there were two other guys who were faster than me on this uphill finale“.

In the general classification the win went to Jasper Styuven, with Ulissi gaining a position and finishing in 5th place (+20 “).
