Double Top Ten as Pogačar retains White Jersey on the Road Morgan Hill

UAE Team Emirates collected two top ten positions on stage 3 of the Tour of California, with Jasper Philipsen in fifth and Tadej Pogačar in tenth. Pogačar maintains fourth overall while also keeping hold of the white jersey for best young rider.

Remi Cavagna (Deceuninck-Quick-Step) took a solo victory after featuring in the break of the day with Ben King(Dimension Data) and Simon Geschke (CCC Team) jumping away from the reduced peloton in the closing kilometres.

Pogačar lies just sixteen seconds behind race leader Van Garderen, with the big general classification showdown expected on stage 6 to Mt. Baldy.

Jasper Philipsen: “I’m happy because I think it was a good result. I got over the climb of Mount Hamilton okay and kept myself in the reduced peloton at the finish. I was getting cramps in the sprint so only managed second in the bunch gallop”.

Tadej Pogačar: “It was another very long stage and the whole team looked after me perfectly and without spending too much energy. Two of us got in the top ten today also with shows the team is strong – so we’re looking forward to the next few stages”.
