Paris-Roubaix returns as Italian classics heat-up

Experienced squad for 'Hell of the North', Pogačar leads in Italy

After almost two years of absence, the legendary Paris-Roubaix makes its long awaited return as UAE Team Emirates send a squad of experienced campaigners to tackle the penultimate monument race of the year on Sunday 3 October.

The team will be spearheaded by Matteo Trentin and the evergreen Alexander Kristoff who will mark his final race for the Emirati squad.

Kristoff: “ It’s been a special few years here with the team. I’m moving on but looking back we’ve achieved a lot of success together and many race wins. I’d like to go out on a high: Paris-Roubaix is one of the big races I have left to win and I’ll give it all to be up in the fight.”

On Saturday 2nd October the team will compete at the Giro dell’ Emilia which kicks-off a week of intense racing on Italian soil, culminating with the final monument race of the year ‘Il Lombardia’ on Saturday 9th October.

The first tests will be the Giro dell’Emilia, Coppa Bernocchi (4 October) and Tre Valli Varesine (5 October).

Pogačar: ”It’s my first time coming to Italy for this period of autumn semi-classics. They are always exciting races to watch and so I’m looking forward to being part of it this year.
It’s already been a perfect season for me so anything else will be a bonus. To finish it off this week with a good result for me or for my teammates would be really nice.”

The team for Paris Roubaix will be led by Sports Directors Allan Peiper (Aus) and Fabio Baldato (Ita), while Marco Marzano (Ita) and Manuele Mori (Ita) will guide the team in Italy.
