Kristoff 4th in sprint to Tavira

Norwegian sprinter edges closer in the Algarve

It was another 4th place for UAE Team Emirates, this time for Alexander Kristoff, on day 3 of the Volta ao Algarve (2.Pro) from Faro to Tavira (201.9k).

After a cohesive team lead-out which saw Kristoff arrive to the final straight in a good position, the speed of Cees Bol (Sunweb) proved too much for all the others as Kristoff found himself without his best legs on the day.

Meanwhile in the general Classification Rui Costa sits 2 seconds off the lead in 4th place heading into the hilly test from Albufeira to Malhão (169.7k).

Kristoff: “It wasn’t by best sprint today. It was a bit disappointing because the team did a really good job and brought me in a good position but my legs kind of exploded in the last metres and I couldn’t pass Bol. I was expecting a bit more after having great legs in Clasica Almeria but I just didn’t have it today. In general the form is good though looking ahead to the classics.”
