National championships weekend round-up, Ulissi close to the podium

The UAE Team Emirates riders all competed in their respective national road championships earning top 10 placings, though with a win just escaping them.

In Italy, Diego Ulissi came close to the podium, crossing the line in 4th place behind lone leader Davide Formolo (Bora-hansgrohe).

Seventh position went to Alexander Kristoff in the Norwegian national championships. The national champion’s jersey goes from the shoulders of Vegard Stake Laengen to those of Amund Grøndahl Jansen (Jumbo-Visma).

Top 10 also for Jasper Philipsen in Belgium, the young talent of UAE Team Emirates, who is about to make his debut in the Tour de France, took 9th place with the win going to Tim Merlier (Corendon-Circus).

Tadej Pogačar’s assault on the national road title (current Slovenian time trial champion) was hampered by Domen Novak (Bahrain-Merida).
Pogačar came home in seventh place.
