Pogačar goes on the attack in the Pyrenees

Slovenian now lies 9th on stage and on GC

Tadej Pogačar put on a show on stage 8 of the Tour de France, going on the attack with 15km to go and gaining 38 seconds in the GC battle after losing 1’ 21’’ the previous day.

The stage win went to Nans Peters (AG2R) who won from the breakaway with Pogačar coming in first of the GC favourites in 9th place.

Pogačar: “I saw that the other guys were looking at each other and everyone was on the limit, I had the chance to attack and I went full gas for the last 5 km to the top. In the downhill I tried to go as deep as I could and at the end I had 40″ of advantage, so it was a good day for me. Tomorrow will be another hard day, we will see day by day how we face each stage”.

Tomorrow the race continues in the Pyrenees on stage 9 from Pau to Laruns (153km) for the last mountain showdown before the rest day.
