UAE Team Emirates Media Protocol

In light of the Covid-19 pandemic, new conditions will be applied to the way UAE Team Emirates media interviews and relations will be conducted at races.

The highest priority will be the health of our team, however our aim is to facilitate the media as much as possible, while protecting the safety of athletes, media personnel and all other parties involved.

Please note the following rules may change or vary depending on the existing protocols of each race organiser. More restrictive measures will be implemented at certain events e.g. Tour de France.

-A UAE Team Emirates media WhatsApp group will be set-up where selected quotes, audio and video will be shared, along with other team related information.

-In the case of interviewing a rider before or after the race it must be done at the team bus and organised through a member of the teams communication staff. (In the case of a Grand Tour, a pre-race ‘window’ for interviews will last for 15 minute every day from the time the bus location is shared in the media WhatsApp group.)

-Any in-person press activities shall only be conducted while wearing a face-mask and where a safe distance (2M) can be kept between riders and media.

-Off-race interviews in the hotel will be done only on exceptional occasions at with prior arrangement with team communication and medical staff.

-Where possible, interviews will be done digitally via Zoom or a similar platform.

Team Ramps Up Fight Against Covid

In addition to the standard regular monitoring of riders and staff, UAE Team Emirates has partnered with the specialist Italian based cleaning group, ASkyClean, which will accompany the team for the biggest events of the season.

The team of specialists will perform a deep cleaning of all team vehicles, equipment and also travel ahead of the race to ensure all team hotel rooms and facilities meet certificate level standard.
