Riabushenko grabs second in the País Vasco’s third stage

In the longest stage of this year’s Vuelta al País Vasco, 184.8km from Bermeo to Valdegovía, Alexandr Riabushenko claimed second.

Jay McCarthy (Bora-Hansgrohe) claimed the stage win ahead of UAE Team Emirates’s young Belarusian.

“I’m happy, but I can’t hide that I’m a little bit upset with this because I could’ve won,” said Riabushenko. “My first win as a professional would have been great, and at the end of such a difficult stage. In the sprint, I had good feelings and at 500 metres from the line, I was in good position. At 300, McCarthy started and I was behind him the entire time.”

Tomorrow, the riders face the fourth stage, an individual time trial of 19.4 kilometres starting and ending in Lodosa.
