Rui Costa defends his 10th place

Top ten overall for Portuguese cyclist in the Race of Two Seas

With good showing in the final time trial stage of Tirreno-Adriatico, Rui Costa defended his 10th place overall in the general classification. After the 10km time trial around San Benedetto del Tronto, he closed the race 3’18” behind winner Primoz Roglic (Team Jumbo-Visma).

 

UAE Team Emirates placed Jan Polanc in the top 15, closing the race 14th at 4’29”.

 

Victor Campenaerts (Lotto-Soudal) won the final time trial with a time of 11-23 minutes. The best placed UAE Team Emirates riders was Tom Bohli, 18th at 20″ back. Rui Costa 31th (30″), Polanc 63rd (+49″).

 

“It was good to close Tirreno-Adriatico among the best in the classification,” Rui Costa said. “It was a very balanced race, hard and with high-level participants – all the elements give value to my result. I’m happy with my time trial today, I read the race well.”
