Team sets off to Spain for the Vuelta Burgos

UAE Team Emirates will head to Spain as they take-on the Vuelta a Burgos which runs from Tuesday, August 13 to Saturday, August 17.

The race will tackle five stages, two of which have uphill finishes: the third stage will finish on Picon Blanco and stage 5 will arrive at Lagunas de Neila to decide the general classification, where UAE Team Emirates will aim for success with Rui Costa and Jan Polanc.
Making his team debut in Spain will be South African stagiaire, Matthew Beers.

The team will be led by general manager Joxean Matxin (Esp), supported by Aurelio Corral (Esp) and Andrej Hauptman (Slo), and will feature seven riders:

– Simone Petilli (Ita)
– Jan Polanc (Slo)
– Edward Ravasi (Ita)
– Aleksandr Riabushenko (Blr)
– Rory Sutherland (Aus)

Rui Costa on the Spanish race: “The Vuelta a Burgos is an interesting race, with five days of racing that will be intense and that will certainly feature strong competition.
I hope to have recovered enough after the Tour de France and, if so, I will try to be up there on the harder stages“.
