Trentin top-5 in Tour du Limousin sprint

Emirati team again come close to victory

It was another close call for UAE Team Emirates with Matteo Trentin within reach of victory on stage two of the Tour du Limousin in France. Stage two was a flat affair with 184 km from Le Grand Périgueux Champcevinel to Riberac with the Italian taking 4th place in the bunch gallop.

UAE Team Emirates swarmed to the front in the closing kilometre with Fernando Gaviria taking up the sprint with 500 m left to go. The Colombian flicked his elbow as a signal for the sprint to commence with Matteo Trentin fourth in a blanket finish behind stage winner Alex Aranburu (Movistar), who also now leads the General Classification.

Tomorrow the race has its penultimate day with a hilly stage from Donzenac to Malemort (181.7km).
