Ulissi 5th overall as Tour de Pologne heats up

10th for Italian on stage 3 uphill finish

After a podium from Pascal Ackermann yesterday, Diego Ulissi continued the UAE Team Emirates presence at the head of the race with 10th spot on the uphill finish to Stage 3 of the Tour de Pologne.

UAE Team Emirates took control of the head of the race with Vegard Stake Laengen, Rui Oliveira and Oliviero Troia taking up the pace to reduce the numbers in the group, before Ulissi battled the final 1.5km slope which was won by Sergio Higuita (Bora-Hansgrohe) who takes over the race lead.

Ulissi now sits 5th overall heading into the approaching hilly stages which should suit his characteristics.

Ulissi : “I knew the finish well, since last year I was 2nd on this climb. This year it was a very long stage but I have to be happy since it’s been over a month since I’ve last raced. But I’ve prepared well and I have to be pleased with the result and we have more days ahead to try and go for the win.”
