Kristoff just shy of the podium in Hamburg

Fourth place for the UAE Team Emirates sprinter

In the final sprint of the EuroEyes Cyclassics Hamburg, Alexander Kristoff once again showed his reliability in the sprint, going close to the podium of the German World Tour race.
The sprinter from UAE Team Emirates crossed the line in 4th position, behind winner Elia Viviani (Deceuninck-Quick Step), Caleb Ewan (Team Omega Pharma-Lotto) and Giacomo Nizzolo (Dimension Data).

A quartet which moved away on the Waseberg (770 meters at 9.7%) couldn’t hold off the group of favourites, which contained the majority of the main sprinters including Alexander Kristoff (photo Bettini) who had the help of his teammates coming into the line.

Declarations from the Norwegian rider: “We managed to get a lot of guys in the front. I think we did a good effort and the guys who were with me in the final did their best but we just lacked the legs to really perfect the lead out. I followed the wheel of Demare and managed to pass him but there was still three guys ahead.
We have young riders working on the lead out so we can build on this.
We were hoping for more today, but the Deutschland Tour is coming up so we hope for more good results there
“.
