Kristoff seventh at the Prudential Ride London Classic

Norwegian sprinter takes seventh place in the London sprint finale in a hectic finish that saw the Italian Elia Viviani (Deceuninck-QuickStep) prevail, ahead of Irishman Sam Bennet (Bora-Hansgrohe) and team-mate Michael Mørkøv (Deceuninck -Quickstep).

A crash with 1.5km to the finish hampered the leadout for UAE Team Emirates who had been working well to deliver Kristoff to the line .
Fighting back to the front, the Norwegian sprinter was helped by Ferrari while Jansen (Jumbo – Visma) opened the sprint on the other side of the road(photo by @RideLondon). That move ended up benefitting the Deceuninck train which finished the race with two men on the podium.

“I was in a good position on the wheel of Ferrari,” says Kristoff, “but the rider in front of us stopped abruptly, causing us to lose speed, while launching the sprint across the road. The difference in speed was too great at that point to be able to immediately hook onto the wheels of Deceuninck. In the end it was too late for me.
On the bright side I can say that I was lucky not to have ended up in the fall about 1.5 km from the line, where I lost about 20 positions “.
