Last seasonal Classic: Ulissi 21st, Petilli crashed

Unlycky Il Lombardia for the Emirati team

The last Classic of the 2017 calendar, Il Lombardia (Bergamo-Como, 247 km), was won by Vincenzo Nibali, who preceded Alaphilippe and Moscon.

 

Despite its riders tried hard to gave their best, the Italian Classic was not a lucky race for the Emirati team, with Simone Petilli crashing in the descent of the Muro di Sormano.
He was transferred to the hospital Circolo in Varese, where he was joined by Dr Corsetti, team’s doctor: he suffered a concussion, the fracture of the right occipital condyle, the fracture of the right tranverse process of the D1 vertebra, the broken right collarbone and the broken right shoulder blade, in addition to wounds near the right eye.

 

The first rider from UAE Team Emirates to reach the arrival was Ulissi (photo Bettini), in 21st place at 2’20” to the winner.
