Only Mezgec is faster than Ferrari in Ljubljana

Second place for UAE Team Emirates' sprinter

Second sprint in two stages in the Tour de Slovenie: Roberto Ferrari is always amongst the protagonists and he improved the 4th place he had obtained in the opening stage.
UAE Team Emirates crossed the finish line of the Ljubljana-Ljubljana, 169,9 km, in 2nd position, preceded only by Mezgec.

The peloton reached the final kilometer after having bridged the gap from the 7 riders who had led the race and the sprint on the wet roads in Ljubljana was made complicated by a crash which occurred in the last bend and in which several sprinters got involved.
Ferrari could avoid to crash and he fought against Mezgec, not succeeding in overtaking him.

UAE Team Emirates’ Italian sprinter is 3rd in the GC, at 8″ to the leader Mezgec

Sports director Orlando Maini (in photo from Bettini archive, with Ferrari) commented: “Roberto avoided to get involved in the crash. The final bend was the key moment for the sprint: Mezgec entered in the final straight at full speed and this gave him some meters of advantage on Renshaw and Ferrari. Roberto overtook the Australian athlete, however it was not possible for him to do the same with the Slovenian sprinter“.
