Molano clinches top-10 as Dauphiné approaches mountains

Ayuso holds 8th on GC

Sebastian Molano survived a hectic undulating finish to take 10th spot in the final sprint on Stage 5 of the Criterium du Dauphiné from Thizy-les-Bourgs to Chaintré (162.3km).

The group was reduced by the technical and lumpy nature of the parcours of the final 25km, pulling back the breakaway with under 100m to go, with Wout Van Aert (Jumbo-Visma) taking the spoils.

Young Juan Ayuso finished safely in the bunch and remains in 8th place overall at 1’58’’ from race leader Van Aert.

Tomorrow Stage 6 will be a hillier affair, taking the riders from Rives to Gap (196.4km).
