Podium for Gaviria at GP Fourmies

Colombian 3rd in fast sprint finish

Fernando Gaviria continued a strong build-up to the World Championships with a 3rd place in the GP de Fourmies (1.Pro) in France.

The Emirati squad collaborated with Bora-Hansgrohe at the head of the peloton around the mostly flat 197km circuit, with Brandon McNulty putting in a big turn on the front to neutralise the four man breakaway with 9km left to ride.

The speed was ramped up on the slightly downhill run to the finish where Elia Viviani timed his sprint to take the win ahead of Gaviria and Pascal Ackermann (Bora-Hansgrohe) who stood on the middle step of the podium.

Gaviria : “I came from far back in the last kilometre and managed to get in a good position for the sprint but Viviani had the extra kick today. I’m happy how it went overall.he team did good work today and controlled the race really well.My form is good building up to the World Championships.”
