Pogačar returns to lead squad at Tour of Slovenia

Slovenian aiming to defend 2021 title

With the Tour de France fast approaching, UAE Team Emirates will continue their build-up at the Tour of Slovenia which runs from 15-19 June.

The team takes a line-up packed with talent, headlined by Tour de France champion and local favourite: Tadej Pogačar.

The team also includes Pascal Ackermann for the sprint stages along with the former race winner Rafal Majka who lifted the title in 2017 and brings his experience to a youthful team.

Pogačar: “It’s been a while since I last pinned on a race number so I’m eager and excited to get back into it.
We’ve been training at altitude in Livigno and the atmosphere has been great in the team. I’ve been feeling pretty good in training, but it’s always hard know exactly how you’re going until you’re in the race.

This Tour of Slovenia is an especially nice race for me : Stage 4 passes through my hometown of Komenda. I obviously know the roads and climbs quite well and I look forward to see friends and family who will be out cheering the race. The parcours is tough and there will be strong rivals but hopefully we can pull off some good results along the way and enjoy a nice week of racing.”

Sports Directors Andrej Hauptman (Slo) and Manuele Mori (Ita) will lead the 7 riders:
