Poland: Consonni charges back to 7th

The UAE Team Emirates sprinter again top 10

The fifth stage of the Tour of Poland, 152km to Bielsko Biala, offered a difficult sprint on a long stretch with a consistent uphill drag.
Kwiatkowski doubles up, winning for the second time after yesterday and maintaining his overall lead.

Simone Consonni knew how to get himself into the sprint for the third time in this tour, again in the top 10. Kwiatkowski took control but Consonni regained in the group for seventh place.
Fabio Aru finished in the group to maintain his 10th overall at 27″ from Kwiatkowski. In the final, young Italian climber Ravasi unfortunately fell and suffered  facial abrasions.

After a day like yesterday, which was relatively hard for me, today at the start of the race my feelings were not great but thanks to great team support I was able to overcome the difficulties of the stage,” said Consonni. “I got to the sprint feeling pretty convinced that I could do something, and it was a hard sprint, but my legs were responding pretty well and to achieve another top 10 gives me good morale.
