Cristian Muñoz was born and raised in a small town of 14,000 people called Ventaquemada, which is located at an altitude of 2700 metres, so steep mountains and climbs are part of his DNA.
His father, Luis Antonio, got him into cycling when he was 10 years old. From that moment on, Cristian has racked up countless kilometres on Colombian elevations.
He became one of the most prominent Colombian climbers when he won a stage in the 2018 Under23 Giro d’Italia.
His 179 cm stature makes him more comparable to a European rider than a typical Colombian climber.
