Rui Costa is considered a pure talent in modern cycling and is famous for his ability to remain competitive in any race he rides.

His parents are farmers and it isn’t uncommon for Rui to be found helping out in the fields

He was initially interested in athletics, but after he tried bike racing he understood that cycling was destined to be his future.

As a young man his hobbies included drumming and raising parakeets. Now he likes to relax listening to music and he spends his free time with his wife Carla and their son Valentino.

He lives in Andorra, but sometimes he flies to Madeira, his wife’s native island, where he trains on hilly routes.

Like every good Portuguese, his name is very long; however, you can simply call him Rui Costa.
