Once Jan's father stopped riding, he became a sports director, often bringing his young son Jan along with him to the races. So it was only natural that the boy became a cycling fan from the very start.

The young Slovenian started racing at the age of 12 and, thanks to his parents’ support, he has achieved great skills as a cyclist.

His idol was Jan Ulrich, especially because they shared the same name. But when he made it to the pro league, the rider he was most impressed with was Contador.

Ice hockey is another sport that competes with Polanc’s passion for cycling. An avid Pittsburgh Penguins fan, Jan is always up to date on the results of the Slovenian league and NHL games.
