Meintjes hold on top 10 GC position in stage 14

Louis Meintjes maintains his top ten position whilst teammate Marcato finished in the top 20

Stage 14 saw South African rider, UAE Team Emirates’ Louis Meintjes maintain his ninth position in the overall General Classification while Italian teammate Marcao Marcato finished amongst the top 20.
This stage saw Chris Froome (Team Sky) regain the Maillot Jaune with an 18 seconds lead between him and his next rival Fabio Aru (Astana).
The stage was won by Michael Matthews (Team Sunweb) who finished 15″ and 25″ ahead UAE Team Emirates’ Marcato and Meintjes respectively.

Commenting on his stage 14, South African Louis Meintjes (photo Bettini) said: “The last 10 km was very fast and quite scary and unfortunately towards the end a lot of riders were in front of me causing me to get caught up in the gap and lose quite a bit of time.
Hopefully tomorrow will be better, let’s see“.

The peloton will be tackling stage 15, which presents a unique challenge on this year’s Tour.
With a considerable amount of climbing on the 189,5 km route, you would be foolish to think tomorrow will be a day for the climbers. With a downhill finish that extends over 31 km, watch out for some of the most tactical riding of the Tour so far.
Look out for breakaways, aggressive riding and sprin to the finish.
