Sprint in Cevio: Modolo is 7th

Rui Costa and Conti retained the 8th and 9th place in the GC

The Simplonpass climb, which was covered 100 km from the start of the 5th stage of the Tour de Suisse (222 km from Bex to Cevio), did not selected the peloton and so the race finished with a bunch sprint, after the neutralization of the 6 riders breakaway which had led the race for many kilometers.

Sacha Modolo battled amongst the fastest cyclists and he obtained the 7th place; the sprint was won by Sagan.

It’s a pity I did not succeed to give value to the perfect work which was made by my team mates – Modolo (in photo, after the finish line) said – They were great in working from -25 km under the pouring rain and then to lead me in the approach to the sprint.
Unfortunately, I was boxed at 600 meters to the finish line, it was my fault, so I tried to recover and, despite my speed was very high, I could not complete a full recovery and I was 7th“.

The 6th stage will be a key day for the general classification: covering the the 166,7 km from Locarno to La Punt, the riders will climb the San Bernardino and the Albulapass, whose summit will be at 2,6 km to the arrival.
