Tenth place for Ulissi in Kościelisko

UAE Team Emirates rider now sits in 4th place overall

After 160 km of racing characterised by short, steep climbs the Italian rider came home in 10th place at the finish in Kościelisko in a a group of seven riders 10″ from the leading trio led by the stage winner Jonas Vingegaard (Jumbo-Visma).

 

The Dane now takes the lead in the general classification, where Ulissi stands in 4th 17″ off the lead.

 

“I did the maximum possible to fight to be in the select group at the finish in a stage that was very hard.  – said Diego Ulissi (photo Bettini) – I’m happy and I’ll go into the final stage trying to get a result, with one eye also on the overall standing which is still very open. ”

 

The start of the final stage will be at Bukowina Resort and the race will end in Bukowina Tatrzanska. Stage distance is 153.3 km on a route featuring five 1st category climbs and with a finish on a 3.45 km sector with 5.45% average gradient.
