Tour de France: Pogačar fifth in La Roche-sur-Foron

The young Slovenian talent remains second in the standings and holder of the white jersey

Tadej Pogačar remains second in the general classification at 57” from leader Roglič and holds of the white jersey as the best youngster of this Tour de France, even after the last high mountain stage, 175 km and five mountain passes, where he finished in fifth place.

First and second step of the podium for the duo of Ineos-Granadier, Kwiatkowski and Carapaz (new holder of the best climber Polka dot jersey) who both arrived together and with their arms raised after having detached their escape companions. Third place went to Wout Van Aert who regulated the group of high ranking men.

Tadej Pogačar: “On paper today was one of the toughest stages and out on the road it was really hard. Jumbo worked to keep the race under control. I tried to attack on the last climb but it was not possible, I didn’t have it in the legs. The group all stayed together and I managed to sprint to 5th. It was a good day for me overall. The team put in a good performance to keep me safe and we are one day closer to Paris.”
