Swiss World Tour race scheduled from 9th to 17th June

UAE Team Emirates will be on the starting grid with a well-balanced formation of young riders and more experienced athletes for the Tour de Suisse, a World Tour category stage race from June 9th to the 17th.

Sports Directors Simone Pedrazzini (Switzerland) and Mario Scirea (Italy) will rely on the following 7 riders:
– Roberto Ferrari (Italy)
– Filippo Ganna (Italy)
– Alexander Kristoff (Norway)
– Jan Polanc (Slovenia)
– Ben Swift (United Kingdom)
– Oliviero Troia (Italy)
– Diego UIissi (Italy)

The Swiss race will feature 9 stages. There will be one team stage (1st stage, 18 km) an individual time trial (last stage, 34 km) two high summit arrivals (5th and 7th stage) and a total of 17 categorized climbs.

Diego Ulissi will be competing in Switzerland again after his 4th place in the Lugano GP.  “I got into good shape during the Giro d’Italia; I will try to make the most of it in the Tour de Suisse. The starting field is top class; there will be lots of jousting for the individual stages as well as for the general classification.”

This is how Alexander Kristoff, who approaches the race a couple of days after the victory the Gp Canton d’Argovie, sees things: “In the past, when I’ve chosen to compete in the Tour de Suisse as an important prelude to the Tour de France, I’ve always gotten a lot out of it, so I’m excited at the prospect of riding in Switzerland; it could be a great chance to use the Swiss climbs to fine-tune my conditioning and try to make the most of any eventual opportunity to achieve a good result.”
