Tour de Suisse: Ulissi pulls of top 10 overall

Diego Ulissi finished ninth overall in the Tour de Suisse today, 2-27 minutes from winner Richie Porte (BMC Racing), when the race finished with a time trial. The Tuscan of UAE Team Emirates also won the fifth stage earlier this week

In the 34.1km time trial today in Bellinzona, he ended 49″ behind winner Stefan Küng (BMC Racing).

“Overall, I’m content with the result,” Ulissi said. “Today was a long time trial and I managed it well to take ninth overall. Maybe I could have done something more in the big mountain stage where I gave up more space than I wanted to, but I’m still satisfied to have pulled off this result even after a hard Giro d’Italia.

I’m leaving here with a great stage win and a good placing the overall. Now, I’m heading to the Italian championships and a break before the final part of the season.”
