UAE Team Emirates ambitious ahead of the Tour of Slovenia

Home favourites Pogačar and Polanc head a competitive team

UAE Team Emirates will bring a strong line-up to dispute the five stage Tour of Slovenia (2.HC) which takes place from 19-23 June.
The six-man team to be led by Joxean Matxin (Spa) and Paolo Tiralongo (Ita):
– Simone Consonni (Ita)
– Marco Marcato (Ita)
– Rui Oliveira (Por)
– Tadej Pogačar (Slo)
– Jan Polanc (Slo)
– Diego Ulissi (Ita)

The Slovenian duo of Pogačar and Polanc will spearhead the Emirati squad: Pogačar will take aim at the general classification, while Polanc will aim to continue his rich form from the Giro d’Italia.
The team is steeped in quality, with Ulissi in excellent shape (as shown with success at GP Lugano) and Consonni able to mix with the fast-men in the sprints.
Marcato and Rui Oliveira will also prove pivotal in navigating the team through the week.

Pogačar on his expectations: “My goal is to continue to race at the same level as I have since the start of the season: I am very motivated and aim to do my best.
The Tour of Slovenia will offer three particularly challenging stages, I fancy them but I know that the competition will be high as usual and will make for intense racing”.

Ulissi:”I have participated in five editions of the Tour of Slovenia, winning the race overall on my debut: I am pleased to return to this race after two years of absence.
I’m coming here in good condition, so for the five days of competition I will try to help Pogačar and Polanc while still trying to take my own chances for a stage win”.
