UAE Team Emirates for the GP Quebec and the GP Montreal

The UAE Team Emirates will head to the Canadian one-day WorldTour races with a multi-prong front.

On Friday, September 7, the Grand Prix Cycliste de Québec covers a circuit of 12.6km 16 times. It reaches 201.6km and climbs 2976 meters.

Two days later, Sunday, September 9, the Grand Prix Cycliste de Montréal climbs 4528 metres and covers 195.2km in its 16 circuits of 12.2km.

“We have different tactics that we can take advantage of,” said Sports Director Simone Pedrazzini. “Alexander Kristoff can sprint, Rui Costa and Diego Ulissi can try to force some moves. In the first race in Quebec, it seems like a given that it could be a sprint, in Montreal the attacks could decide things, like what happened in the past with Ulissi. We are well equipped for the races and we are going to try to take advantage of the various options on offer.”

Diego Ulissi explained: “The GP Quebec and the GP Montreal are two races that I particularly like. Both races are selective, although not prohibitive. They are classics that are similar to the worlds. Among the two, I like Montreal because it’s a little harder than Quebec and it’s more open to attackers.
I am heading to the two races not in the best shape because I had a fever a few days ago. Let’s see how my body will respond under force. Given this, I hope that I can defend to the best possible the race I won last year in Montreal.”

Roster: Rui Costa (Portugal), Alexander Kristoff (Norway), Marco Marcato (Italy), Manuele Mori (Italy), Jan Polanc (Slovenia), Aleksandr Riabushenko (Belarus), Diego Ulissi (Italy).
