UAE Team Emirates line-up named for Criterium du Dauphiné
McNulty excited heading into Dauphiné debut
UAE Team Emirates will kick-off their summer racing calendar in France with the 8-day stage race Criterium du Dauphiné from 30 May-6 June.
As in previous editions the race is based around the French Alps with a 16km time-trial on stage 4 and a high mountain stage on the final day set to be most decisive.
The team tasted success at the race in 2020 with David De La Cruz winning the mountains classification and Tadej Pogačar placing 4th in the GC on his way to claiming Tour de France success later in the year.
Though both will be absent this year, the team features Brandon McNulty who will be targeting a good GC performance, while stage winning options through the likes of Alexander Kristoff and Joe Dombrowski who recently tasted success on stage 4 of the Giro d’Italia.
Sports Directors Allan Peiper (Aus) and John Wakefield (RSA) will lead the team:
-Camilo Ardila (Col)
-Mikkel Bjerg (Den)
-Sven Erik Bystrom (Nor)
-Joe Dombrowski (USA)
-Alexander Kristoff (Nor)
-Brandon McNulty (USA)
-Ivo Oliveira (Por)
McNulty: “After my last race I got to travel back to the US and went to do altitude training in Flagstaff which is less than a couple of hours from where I live.
I’m excited for the Dauphine. I’m not exactly sure where my form is at because you never really know when you’re training at altitude, but I’m looking forward to get back stuck into the racing.”
