Ulissi 6th as Hirschi keeps white in Romandie

Hirschi 5th heading into decisive weekend of racing

There were treacherous conditions on Stage 3 of the Tour de Romandie where Diego Ulissi and Rui Costa battled pouring rain to round out the top-10 with 6th and 10th on the stage as Hirschi finished safely in the reduced group.
Marc Soler (Movistar) was the solo winner as he escaped in the closing 10km to seal the victory.

 

In the General Classification Marc Hirschi moves up to 5th place on GC at 16’’ from new race leader Soler. Hirschi will also aim to defend the white jersey as best young rider.

 

Stage 4 tomorrow is due to be the queen stage of the race between Sion and Thyon (161.3km) with a mountain top finish.
