Ulissi takes top-10 in Giro Dell’Emilia

8th for Italian on the climb of San Luca

Diego Ulissi showed solid form at the Giro Dell’Emilia (1.Pro), taking 8th place after a race of attrition which left the group in pieces after a tough closing circuit around Bologna, Italy.

The race was punctuated by the short but brutal finishing climb of San Luca (2.1km, 10%) which the riders would tackle 5 times over the 195km race.

Primoz Roglic (Jumbo-Visma) would prove the strongest on the day, breaking clear in a five rider move, with Ulissi forming part of the elite chasing group.

This group would ultimately fail to bridge the gap to the leaders , with Ulissi digging in on the final lap to take 8th.

The racing continues in Italy on Monday with the Coppa Bernocchi (1.Pro) on Monday 4th October.
