Gaviria just shy of podium in Oman sprint

4th for Colombian in Suhar Corniche

Fernando Gaviria came up short in his bid for a second stage win, sprinting to a fine 4th place on Stage 2 of the Tour of Oman from Naseem Park to Suhar Corniche (167.5km).

 

 

British rider Mark Cavendish (Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl) took the spoils with Gaviria hot on his heels just behind.

 

 
After tasting victory yesterday and pulling on the leaders jersey the 27 year old will still be full of confidence for the rest of the week as the team seeks to add another win tho their season tally.

 

 

Gaviria now moves to 2nd on the overall classification and UAE Team Emirates continue to lead the team classification.

 

 
The Tour of Oman continues tomorrow with Stage 3 from Sultan Qaboos University to Qurayyat (180km) with an uphill kick to the line.
