Gaviria podiums at Tour of Wallonie

Colombian 3rd on stage 4

Fernando Gaviria put in some aggressive racing to finish 3rd on stage 4 of the Tour de Wallonie (2.Pro) in Belgium today.

The 206km from Neufchâteau to Fleurus included cobblestone sections and narrow roads which saw the group stretched and split at different points.

Alexander Kristoff suffered mechanical issues with 20km to go which left it down to Gaviria to fight out the sprint. The Colombian fast-man stuck to the wheel of Dylan Groenewegen (Jumbo-Visma) who proved the fastest on the day, with Giacomo Nizzolo (Qhubeka-NextHash) squeezing in for second.

The overall race lead stays with Quinn Simmons (Trek-Segafredo), with one day of competition left to go.

Tomorrow stage 5 goes from Dinant to Quaregnon (192.4km) where the Emirati squad will hope to dispute the victory on the flat parcours.
