Hirschi takes top-5 at Giro del Veneto

It was a case of two races and two 5th places for UAE Team Emirates with Marc Hirschi taking 5th at the Giro Del Veneto in Italy and Alvaro Hodeg sprinting to 5th on stage 4 of the Tour of Turkey.

The Emirati squad went into Veneto as defending champions with Matteo Trentin having taken the crown in 2022, this time victory would prove elusive though Hirschi battled the uphill sprint amongst the forerunners on the course from Tombolo to Venice (170km), benefitting from a leadout from Trentin. Dorian Godon (AG2R Citroen) took the win.

Meanwhile Alvaro Hodeg showed a fast pair of legs to take 5th in a bunch sprint won by Jasper Philipsen (Alepcin-Deceuninck). The Belgian cruised to victory on stage 4 from Fethiye to Marmaris (165km).

The race continues tomorrow for stage 5, a mountainous day from Marmaris to Bodrum(180.6km).
