Hodeg top-5 in Hungary opener

Colombian sprinter 5th on day one

Alvaro Hodeg continued his comeback to the peloton with 5th place on stage 1 of the Tour de Hongrie.

The flat opening day based around Szentgotthard (168km) ended a mass sprint won by Dylan Groenewegen (Jayco-Alula) who becomes the first race leader.

UAE Team Emirates came away largely unscathed from a large crash inside the final 3km with only Michael Vink hitting the ground and escaping with abrasions.

Tomorrow the racing continues with another expected day for the sprinters from Zalaegerszeg to Keszthely (175km).
