Jay Vine claims Australian Time Trial title in Perth
Australian clocks fastest time in first race of 2026, as UAE Team Emirates-XRG gets its victory tally off the mark for the new season
Jay Vine delivered a commanding performance today to win the Australian National Time Trial Championships, producing a powerful and precisely paced ride on the roads of Perth to secure the green and gold jersey for the coming season.
The title was contested over a 39.1km loop course, featuring long exposed straights, fast sections along the coastline, and several technical turns that rewarded both raw power and aerodynamic efficiency. Vine clocked a time of 46.52 with a blistering average speed of 50.05kmph, the only rider on course to go over the 50 threshold.
Vine excelled under the hot conditions, setting the fastest intermediate splits before closing strongly in the final kilometres to seal victory by a clear margin over his rivals.
Jay Vine: “I’m really happy and proud to start the 2026 season with a win. Taking the green and gold jersey back in the TT championships is super special to me. I missed out last year and I’m really happy to have arrived in good shape and able to deliver a performance like this.
I worked really hard over the European winter to get ready for the Australian summer and I’m so glad it’s paid off. The preparation with the team has been excellent, and it’s great to start the season like this. Wearing the national colours is always an honour.”
The win marks another national title for Vine and a strong early-season success for UAE Team Emirates-XRG, underlining the team’s form and preparation heading into the 2026 campaign. Vine will be in action again over the weekend for the Men’s Road Race.
