Sebastián Molano rides to fifth place on stage 1 of the Boucles de la Mayenne

On stage 1 of the Boucles de la Mayenne, Sebastián Molano rode to fifth place for UAE Team Emirates-XRG. It marks a fine start to the road stages for Molano, who will have another opportunity later in the week.

Meanwhile, the winner of the prologue and Molano’s teammate, Julius Johansen, produced a distinguished display to not only position his teammates ahead of the sprint, but also retain his leader’s jersey. Johansen took the lead of the race with his opening day victory, and now takes the yellow jersey into stage 2.

For UAE Team Emirates-XRG, stage 1 was not to yield another win. Instead, the returning sprinter Olav Kooij (Decathlon CMA CGM) took the spoils. As for the Emirati squad’s GC hopeful, Benoît Cosnefroy, the Frenchman sits handily placed in fourth overall.
