Luca Giaimi set to step up to UAE Team Emirates-XRG WorldTour squad

Young Italian becomes the latest to graduate from the Emirati squad's Gen Z ranks, highlighting the team's commitment to youth development

UAE Team Emirates-XRG is proud to announce the promotion of promising Italian rider Luca Giaimi to its elite WorldTour roster. Giaimi will make the step up from the UAE Team Emirates Gen Z development squad effective immediately, signing a contract that will see him remain with the team through the end of the 2028 season.

Giaimi, 21, has been part of the Gen Z structure and has demonstrated impressive progression within the team’s development pathway.

Throughout his time in the Gen Z programme, Giaimi has benefited from close integration with the WorldTour environment, including training camps, race support, and exposure to the professional racing calendar. In a growing palmares, he has picked up results in notable races such as victories in Portugal with a stage win at the Volta ao Alentejo and the one-day Trofeu International da Arrabida, both in 2025.

Mauro Gianetti (CEO & Team Principal, UAE Team Emirates-XRG):
“The goal of our Gen Z structure has always been to develop and grow young talents and Luca has proven that he is ready to take the next step. We feel he has the character, commitment, and the right mentality to grow within our World Tour squad. We hope and trust that he can continue progressing both as a rider and as a person as he makes this transition to the highest level.”

Luca Giaimi:
“It’s a nice feeling to make the grade jump now and I’m very happy because it means that my growth path here in Gen Z has been good. In the last two seasons in the development team I had the opportunity to learn how to work in World Tour races and especially within our great team, I treasured this experience and now I bring this with me and I want to continue to grow and work well with the whole team to become the best version of me.”
