RAMADAN RIDES SCHOOL CHALLENGE INITIATIVE LAUNCHED BY UAE TEAM EMIRATES AND ADNOC

Nationwide campaign aims to inspire health and wellness during the Holy Month

Building on its commitment to inspiring a culture of health and wellness across the country, UAE Team Emirates, together with its partner ADNOC, are calling on school children to cycle and keep fit during the Holy Month with their Ramadan Rides school challenge initiative.

Through the initiative, school children are being encouraged to make the most of the mild weather, get out on their bikes and clock up the kms to be in with a chance of winning a number of cycling prizes, including a full UAE Team Emirates cycling kit and UAE Tour signed jerseys.

Speaking ahead of the launch, 2020 Tour de France winner Tadej Pogacar said, “It’s always great to see so many people riding their bikes when we are in the UAE, especially young kids, so I’m really proud to be supporting this project. Launching a wellness initiative during Ramadan makes it even more important, as it’s a time when exercise is not always a priority for the community. Cycling is a great way to stay healthy and a fun activity to do with friends, so I hope the Ramadan Rides school challenge motivates lots of school kids to get involved.”

Yaser Saeed Almazrouei (Executive Director, Upstream) said, “Our partnership with the UAE Team Emirates reflects the importance ADNOC places on encouraging healthy lifestyles and ensuring the wellbeing of our community. We are committed to making a positive contribution to achieving UN Sustainability Goal #3 of ensuring healthy lives and promoting well-being for all. Through our support for initiatives like the Ramadan Rides school challenge, The Daily Mile and Daily 15, we hope to inspire future generations to embrace a healthy and active lifestyle.”

The Ramadan Rides school challenge initiative has been launched in partnership five ADNOC schools: Sas Al Nakhl Campus, Ruwais Campus, Ghayathi Campus, Madinat Zayed Campus and Canadian International School, but is open to all children under the age of 16 in the Emirates. By posting images of a ride on Instagram and tagging @uaeteamemirates participants will be entered into a free prize draw.
