Rui Costa 9th in País Vasco stage 5
Strong winds and echelons early on marked the penultimate stage, which ended with a fast final after there climbs near the city of Eibar.
At the end of the 164.7km fifth stage of the Vuelta al País Vasco, Rui Costa took ninth place and confirmed his improving form.
“I have good feelings, improving since the first day here,” said the Portuguese cyclist. “It was a hard stag today, but I’m satisfied because I feel good and my form is on the way up.”
The last stage of the tour tomorrow covers 122 kilometres with the start in Eibar and finish in Arrate.
