Rui Costa is 4th and moves up to 9th place in the General

Rui Costa has garnered an excellent fourth place in the difficult fraction that took the riders to Zakopane, and he has earned two positions in the classification to make it into the Top Ten. Now the Portuguese color bearer for UAE Team Emirates is ninth, 28’’ behind the new leader in the General, Belgian Dylan Teuns.

“Today was a very hard day” says Costa.  “I was at the limit for a long time, but considering how things turned out, apparently so was everyone else. As I was saying, I wasn’t feeling very good, so making it to fourth place and passing into the Top Ten can only satisfy me. Tomorrow will be a very complicated day, considering the first ten riders in the General are all contained within 30 seconds.”

Today’s victory went to the young Australian Jack Haig (Orica), who came ahead of Wout Poels (Sky) and Bob Jungels (Quick-Step), in that order.

Tomorrow is the seventh and last fraction of this Tour de Pologne, the Bukovina Resort – Bukovina Tatrzanska, which is a 66 km loop to be repeated twice, with seven GPM primes and a high altitude arrival.
