Spring classics calendar rolls on with Le Samyn & Laigueglia
Squad also announced for GP Jean-Pierre Monseré
After a successful weekend for UAE Team Emirates, claiming victories in both the UAE Tour and Faun Ardeche, the team continues its busy early season calendar with the cobbled semi-classic Le Samyn (1.1) on 1 March, followed by the Trofeo Laigueglia (1.Pro) in Italy on 2 March and back to Belgium for the GP Jean-Pierre Monseré (1.1) 6 March.
Matteo Trentin will go into Le Samyn as one of the favourites with the Italian showing signs of form during the Belgian ‘opening weekend’.
At Laigueglia, Diego Ulissi will captain a strong team including the in-form Alessandro Covi, who has two victories already to his name this season.
Alessandro Covi: “It’s been a dream start to the season so far : for me personally but also for the team. I came so close to victory many times last year and I worked so hard over the winter so it’s nice it is paying off.
We want to keep this momentum going. We have a lot of quality in the squad for Laigueglia so we’ll have many options to go for the victory. I’m excited to race back in Italy again.”
Sports Directors Fabio Baldato (Ita) and Marco Marcato (Ita) will oversee the squad in Belgium while Fabrizio Guidi (Ita) will take charge in Laigueglia.
