Tour de Romandie: Top Ten for Ulissi and Meintjes in the Queen stage

In the Queen stage of this Tour de Romandie, from Domdidier to Leysen of 163.5 km and 2855 total elevation the UAE Team Emitrates did a coral good job with Ulissi, 6th , Meintjes, 8th, and Anass Ait el Abdia, who moved well in the final and got 18th at finish-line. Simon Yates (Orica) won stage and is now leading the GC, with Ulissi 9th at 58’’ and Meintjes, 13th at 1’08’’. Tomorrow final stage, a ITT of 17.88 km around Lousanne city.

Diego Ulissi: “last climb was tough and I rode in defence, but the sensations has been good and I did a quite good sprint in the final metres. During the finale we moved well like UAE team Emirates, before with Anass and after with Louis. Now everything depending on tomorrow ITT. In these kind of parcours I usually feeling well but here there are several good cronomen and everybody really close in GC”.

Simone Pedrazzini, sport director: “I satisfied of the job done by all the team. Maybe Diego moved a little bit early the first time with 50 km to go, but it was a particular moment and some good riders jumped in the breakaway. But in the final was there, with the first riders so it means he’s feeling good. Now we will prepare the ITT of tomorrow at the best, where both Ulissi and Meintjes can do well even if there are some strong cronomen in the first twenty GC positions”.
